Students at Hempstead High School celebrated the Public Grand Opening of The Bobcat Grill on Wednesday, January 22. HHS Principal Eric Mullens and HISD Superintendent Dr. Angela Gutsch, and were on hand to witness and celebrate the ribbon cutting ceremony with Chef Ryan and his students.
The Bobcat Grill, which is part of the Career and Technical Education program at HHS, is the district’s teaching restaurant and is staffed entirely by high school culinary arts students. All students are state certified in food handling or management and all food is double-checked by the instructor prior to service.
Chef Ryan, along with his advanced culinary arts class, opened the restaurant located at 425 FM 1488 in Hempstead to the public on Wednesday. The Bobcat Grill, which is open limited hours, will be open to the public for one hour from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday though the end of May. The schedule, which is subject to change due to student schedules and testing, is posted on the district website.
A menu, which includes several specialty entrées, salads, sandwiches, burgers, seasoned fries, paw chips, etc., is also posted on the district website along with a link to place an order online.
