Aneliz Rodriguez, a trumpet player at Hempstead High School, competed in the Texas State UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest at Pflugerville ISD’s Hendrickson High School on Saturday, June 1.

Rodriguez received a gold medal for a Superior Division I rating, the highest rating a contestant can receive, on her trumpet solo performance to the music entitled “All ‘Antica” by A. Goeyens.

As a sophomore, Rodriguez qualified for state after receiving a Division I rating on her trumpet solo at the UIL Region 27 Solo & Ensemble Contest back in February.

Rodriguez is the youngest UIL State Band Champion under the direction of Ronald A. Walker, Sr., Director of Bands at HISD.  The last Band UIL State Champion from Hempstead High School was senior trumpet player Amanda Boehnke in 2013.

Congratulations Aneliz Rodriguez!  We look for more great things to come!
